Official Staunton's Harrwitz Ebony & Boxwood Chessmen

A wonderful set for home play and analysis. The finely turned pieces are simply gorgeous.  The whimsical hand carved Knights are exquisitely carved and pleasing. The pieces are heavily weighted , quite rare for 3.5" sets.  The set has embellishments pioneered by Jaques of London which include the king side stamping.  The chessmen are shown on my chesstable with 2.25" squares. I have provided links to two Youtube videos on this amazing set.

Thanks Mike, glad you enjoyed the videos of another great set offered by Carl. Carl has brought much exctement to collectors like myself and I wonder what new set he will come out with next?

Love that Cambridge Springs set of 1904. Magnificent set besides one of the greatest tournaments for the time. Just full of history. I will link a sight that Steve from our chess club has about the tournament, he is from Cambridge Springs.

Thanks Mike for the link to the  fascinating Cambridge Springs 1904 tournament.  I agree , a Cambriudge Springs reproduction set would be great. Can you post some pics of the set here? What size King would you suggest?

Great photos of another great reproduction from Official Staunton. I especially love the pugnacious knights.

Great vids, too. When I hear that Wagner, all I think is, "Charlie don't surf."

Thanks Chuck, You hit the nail right on the head describing the knights as "pugnacious".

Mike I have another thread with pics of the Cambridge Springs set.

I like them too. I think I have seen the Cambridge as well, but I'll check them out also Wisc. I really love the queen, and rooks of this set. Thanks for sharing the pics Mike.

Yes the Q & R done up right would be very nice, also the pawns.

Nice set!

Lovely set! How do you like playing with a 3.5" set? Do you find much difference in playability from a 3.75 inch king? So tempted by a few of these smaller sets...
