@Fer8799:
I don't remember exactly when the 50% sale took place, except that it was earlier this spring/summer. OS seems to have quite frequent sales, so it's worth visiting their site once in a while just in case. In fact, I notice that right now they have a 40% sale! Not as good as 50%, but still pretty good.
Please note that the prices listed on the site are without the 40% discount. 40% is subtracted when you enter the discount code at checkout.
I bought this set earlier this summer during Official Staunton's 50% sale. It's very nice, probably my favorite non-Noj set at the moment. I see that it has since gone out of stock, hopefully just temporarily.
The set is listed as 3.95 inch, which isn't quite true: The kings in my set are just 3.79" tall, and actually smaller than the kings in some other sets I own that are listed as 3.75". I don't mind, as I generally prefer 3.75" pieces anyway, but it's kind of weird that the Official Staunton web page has incorrect information regarding this.
Earlier in this thread, someone stated that this set doesn't have kingside stamping on the rooks and knights. My set does have kingside stamping. I suppose Official Staunton added that at some point during the last couple of years.
I got this set along with the Robert Fischer 72 Series board, which I'm sorry to say I don't like as much as the pieces. Annoyingly, the raised frame around the board isn't attached to the board, which makes it difficult to lift the board, and causes an annoying rattling noise when you put the pieces down on the board unless you are careful to do it extremely softly. The board surface is also a bit too smooth. The pieces glide around with very little friction, so little that it can be difficult to move the pieces correctly during fast games. The board looks awesome, but the playing experience isn't great.
