How to Think ahead in Chess--IA Horowitz/Fred Reinfield--1951
Oh gawd...the worst book written in the history of chess!
One of the best Chess books that I have ever read was first published by David McKay in 1917. My copy was published by Dover Publications, in 1965 and cost $1.00 new. I bought a new copy in 2007 with modern notation published by Russell Enterprises, the price now is $20.00. Common Sense in Chess by Emanuel Lasker is an abstract of Twelve Lectures given before an audience of London chess players during the spring of 1895.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys playing chess using your reasoning ability rather than a photographic memory.
Please type in the oldest chess book in your possesion. Right now I have a book from around 1964. Please comment the title, author, and publish date.
