Seems like he hit the middle button while still touching the touch button, thus turning the clock off.

Yes, that looks like what happened. It's fairly obvious when the video is slowed down. It was operator error, not a clock problem.

Exactly and that's exactly why this click is not good ESPECIALLY for blitz play, also I think this guy did it on purpose tho and if you are not on a tournament no one cares who has what time, no way of recovering

It was not an operator error it was a dirty trick perhaps.

I try to believe in both Occam's and Hanlon's razors -

Occam's = The simplest solution is most likely the right one.
Hanlon's = Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

I'll stick with operator error.

Acting isn't something you do. Instead of doing it, it occurs. If you're going to start with logic, you might as well give up. You can have conscious preparation, but you have unconscious results.

I see...

Looks like they could have the On/Off button on a different place...

he have about 52 seconds while opponent have 22 seconds and this how the board looks like:

I am not sure if this is the kind of position to call for a dirty trick... also it does not seem to be much at stake, after the failure both players look disappointed for a short period of time... none of them make a big deal about...

I bought my Chronos clock in 2003. Never ever had any problem with it what so ever. Built like a tank. Played countless blitz and bullet games with rough players. Been dropped from table hundreds of times and it still works. Best clock ever made.
