Opinion on this extremely expensive decorative set

Hi everybody, I was looking at various chess sets and searching for keywords to see some unusual chess set pictures and I stumbled on this

Is this set based on anything? Just wondering what your opinion is. I'd never buy something like this for many reasons.

Explains that shagreen is sharkskin. The box is covered in it.

The chessboard is made from burl wood. It's obviously a fine piece of work.

I don't really like the piece design but it's nice to see anybody devoting that kind of effort into making something beautiful related to chess.

I wonder how many of these have been sold.

The design reminds me of Man Rey, etc... it's really not bad, IMO. I think it's way overpriced. Collectors might consider this kind of thing if it was limited edition somehow but for being mass produced even with nice materials I can't see being worth the money, but then I guess the set is not "for" me but someone in a higher tax bracket who might like to show off.
