I love my plastic dubrovnik. Solid pieces with wide bases making them super stable without needing weights. They've become my go to. I don't use them on a wooden board myself, but a freind does with her set.
Plastic chess set

My favorite, by far, are the Ultimate chess pieces from American Chess Equipment. Picked them up years ago, and they've held up very well over the past 10-15 years. Great weighting, great feel to the pieces, and they look good.

Here are a couple of mine.
This set is big and heavy, the board is a magnificent wood folding board with storage for each piece inside:
This one is a nice wide base, triple weighted set. I use this the most (I have two of them). Use it on a wood board.
Here are the two setup on a table, sorry for the pic quality.
Hi Rsava,
where did you buy it the first one? (This set is big and heavy, the board is a magnificent wood folding board with storage for each piece inside:)
Thanks!!!

I got it on ebay, someone here posted about it and I bought one:

Shipping is pricey to the US, but I don't regret the buy one bit. If you're interested email GM Drazic.
