Post Your Butt Ugly Sets!

The set weighs less than 0.5oz , including the board. As you can see , the pieces may or may not be recognized depending on the light . By the way , it's not magnetic .

This thread reminds me of the many times I have had someone tell me I really, really needed to see their amazing ornate antique chess set.  Invariably it is a cheap souvenir set from China.

But boards from of those sets are quite nice and solid.  I'm fond of these and plan on purchasing one in the near future.

A friend of mine owns one of these and it is a good heavy box with 1.75" squares.

It's funny not only are the pieces nestled in fitted foam but they are also STRAPPED down with nylon in case you had any notion of setting them up fast ,,, really funny,, thanks for sharing!

My first chess set looked much like that. Mine came in a roll up tube that looked like a rook, but the knights had that same look to them.

I have a soft spot for this large porcelain number, but clearly it's an eyesore:

Here is kind of a not terrible copy of the Beneagles Thistle and Rose set which someone has painted causing it to become pretty awful.

This set was my first wooden set(ugly enough alone, though I was once proud of it)
It was good enough, until my West Highland Terrier puppy got ahold of a bishop, just tell me the truth Dr, how bad is it?

Didn't Ralph Fiennes play that Bishop of yours opposite
Juliette Binoche?

Did you ever have doubts about whether something is beautiful or horrible ?

I never knew such a post even existed. Fortunately I’ve already gifted the sets that I care the least for. Why hold on to unwanted stuff that makes you sad when it could make someone else happy?
