I´ve travelled to visit my mother and bought the set yesterday. It´s currently on display in her home.

Letchworthshire

EfimLG47

Mid-19th century Jaques In Statu Quo travel chess set which I always carry with me when I am travelling (here summer break in Italy about a month ago). It is by far my favorite travel chess set and probably the best design ever made.

Where's the glass of Barolo?

And in the long run we´re all dead.

Very nice handmade in India, magnetic wooden set. Smallish (as shown with a tournament sized knight on the baord below).

I have that set,but not that cool Knight. Ya' can't have it all I guess.

That 'huge' knight looks very much like the one in the Zagreb 1959 tournament chess set, one of my all-time favourites.

That´s correct. It is from a remake I recently bought. Posting pic´s here, however, would be OT and I´m currently in another part of Sweden than my set, so... One of my favourites too!

Yes, sorry my posting that image was slightly OT, though it did relate directly to your pertinent post about the small Indian travel set. How amazing it would be to have a small magnetic travel set that had scaled-down wooden copies of the Zagreb 1959 tournament chessmen!

I´ll post pics next week here: " Zagreb '59 "...My favorite chess set - Chess Forums - Chess.com

DesperateKingWalk, what is the set that you used for size comparison in the pictures of the Royal Palm travel set? Whatever it is, it's beautiful.

I found that chess set on the internet about 23 years ago. I do not remember where. And no longer exist I am sure. But it was advertised as a genuine Boxwood and Gaboon Ebony set and for only $99. With a 4 inch king and extra queens. So I took a chance and ordered one. Now I wish I would have ordered 10 of them. The quality of the set is first class. And surpasses the $500+ chess sets I have bought since then.

I punched $99 in 2000 dollars into an inflation calculator and it said that's the equivalent of $176.51 today. You got a great deal, that set is just gorgeous! Looks like it would be a treat to play a game with those pieces.

Maybe we should rename this thread? Travel sets displayed at home?

Not any more... Here is a picture of my 16 inch travel chess set taken today inside my camper in Branson Missouri. Starting the week of vacation off right. With a week of fishing, beer, and chess.

Sounds nice! Fishing is my other hobby too. And I´ve been seen drinking beer...
