Post Your Chess Sets

Anyone recognize this set? I picked these up on eBay. I haven’t found an exact match. King is 4.5” with a 1.75” diameter base with black felt. The whole set weighs 73 oz.

A 31x31 cm board made with the khatam technique from Tehran, brought to Germany around 25 years ago as a souvenir, wrote the lovely lady that sold me this maybe olive wood board on 4 little feet. The position is taken from an old article by Donner, but it couldn't be more today: looks like the pieces are about to fall off the board all at once, really.

Lovely stuff! It’s very interesting to see the quite tall king in the context of all other pieces …I love the stocky rook and bishop. Weirdly, (for me) I find bishops with their finials cut somewhat precipitous - like the very top may be fragile but not these - the beautiful wide, rounded mitre and only a feather taken off the finial. One day I am going to get a 1800 something or Staunton repro and this version is on the list to look at. 👍

Where did you bought that Drueke Board from?

This 21" chessboard with 2.25" squares is a JLP (made in USA) and it comes from CHESSHOUSE:

I love this set for the very same reasons (Rook, Bishop, the tall King... and the Knights are also nice)

Hey Magic, somehow I how missed your posts here! Excellent … the highlight for me is the tsarist set but they are all excellent including the 1849 repro’s too. You don’t muck around with your boxes either - the figured wood on the tsarist box looks stunning! You and I have a similar amount of sets I reckon but yours are of a different class… I have a few nice pieces but mine (boxes - with the exception of the one my incline made me - and pieces) are generally mongrels in comparison.

Yep, you’ve got me looking at 1849 pieces now!!
Thank you for the lovely compliment Powder.Actually, that box for the Tsarist set was only $18.00 at a hobby store.....It looks nicer in the photo and it "is" nice, but a paper/film laminate over wood.
You have superb sets as well.... Don't kid yourself! You're quite the collector.
Me? The wife says I'm done.
My first-ever chess set was purchased a few days ago. A Garry Kasparov Foldable Tournament-sized chess set 4.25" King with heavy weighted pieces. I was lucky enough that a local seller was letting it go, so I didn't have to deal with any outrageous international shipping.
Thanks nice work
