The library has a nice maker lab with other equipment. They have 2x Lulzbot Mini 2. The provide the filament and weigh the pieces when done.

I'll ask what the speed was. What tuning are you thinking is needed? I'll suggest the e-steps.

I want to get a Bambu Mini printer after seeing how will these pieces worked out. I want to print pieces for a 35mm square.

If we're talking about color experiments, I recently created new sets with American walnut borders.
ChessboArt American Walnut version

I think we are now at the right stage to say that such chessboards can be made from most types of wood and in most sizes.
Creating chess pieces is a bit more challenging to ensure they are durable and can fit the magnets we insert.

Cover of the third edition of this classic where Sosonko portrays Tal, Botvinnik, Polugaevsky, Keres, his own first trainer Zak and many more from memory. happy.png The knights are from a 'Latvian-Mordovian' and a rustic Polish set, standing up in peace and friendship.

Bambu is a great brand for beginners. They are A LOT more user-friendly than the myriad Ender3 clones (source: me and my E3 clones). Given how well they're printing, your library's printers are already pretty well-tuned, and I'm sure referring them to Teaching Tech (YT, github) or Maker's Muse (YT) would be old news for them. But if you're going to jump in, I absolutely recommend both of them. As far as speed and e-steps, don't worry about it until you get your own printer. (It's a long, complicated explanation that has lots of parts.)

I created a thread just now to get 3d printing noise off this and other threads. I'm guiltier than most of forking good threads, devolving into technical discussions inappropriate for the thread.

Let's try here instead: 3D Printing For Chess. Thx.

Thanks. When my set is complete this is what I planned to do. I think 3D printing is worthy of its own thread.

Just got this chess board that's really unique given to me. Not sure how best to clean it yet but will get it looking all nice and new again

First new acquisition of wooden pieces in over a year, and first order from Chessbazaar in almost three years! But when I saw they're now making an enlarged version of their 3.0 Dubrovnik repro with a king's height of 4.25" (10.8cm) I knew I wanted one. Especially when, with a 40% discount, the total came to just $250 including import tax (pre-applied, which made the import so much easier). I just like my pieces big and beefy.

The set arrived yesterday, safely packaged as always. And it doesn't disappoint: The pieces are very well-crafted, in beautiful boxwood & padouk. No loose felts, no bulging weights. 2.2kg total weight for 34 pieces.

If I had a comment, it would be that I could have imagined the rooks being more robust still.

The set needs a board with 60mm squares at least, maybe even 64mm. The board in the pictures is a 60mm Rechapados Ferrer, the largest one I have.

I'm very happy with this new set, not just because of the great value.

Wonderful photos and a lovely set. Enjoy the classic design. ☺️

This is mine, almost the pieces from Netflix Series used in Paris, similar to the Fierce Knight set, this version is called "Queens Gambit 9.5cm".

Im very happy with it. happy Board is 50 cm (50x50 mm) Walnut / Maple.

Best regards

Great looking chess sets!

Here are some photos of my first personal tournament chess set. The set originally included a cardboard chessboard (which unfortunately didn't survive the 30+).

Wow, stunning set, and such a great deal! Right now it’s only discounted by 10%, for a total of CA$509.75.
