And those pawns are monsters!  Taller than the rooks - what have you been feeding them? wink.png

You know, I never really noticed, bug now that you mention it, they are a bit on the large side!

First we had Scooby knights and now Beefy pawns.  What's next, bishops with spears? tongue.png

Stunning set GambitHwk, absolutely magnificent! Is this from one of the Italian series?

Thanks. I'm not sure which Italian series you refer to, but it is said the Knight is a modification of the Camelot series Knight, which is supposed to be English.

My bad, if you go to the HoS site on the 250-500 $ range, there are a lot of Italian sets (Teramo, Altamura, Torino etc) and I thought It was one of them.

GambitHawk has always stunning and beautiful chessmen and boards. Great Photos.

But those Knights in the first set have, for my taste, a bit too fancy manes. It seems, it is very windy on the board. The mane looks a tiny bit too uncombed :-). Don't get me wrong. They are beautiful and well made.

magictwanger

Whew.....Really fabulous stuff!

@GambitHawk

I think, after a while, you get used to the look. Checking the mane again, I regocnized, there is only a small part of the mane, which seems a bit longer than the rest. Thats all. Anyway, I don't own such high end chesspieces.

Btw. I bought a new board for my middle sized chess pieces. I like the color contrast much better than with my old board (I mean the contrast between the pieces and the board).

Very nice board, you have bought It from an American Store? Because I'm also searching a new board (60mm) but I hope to find it from a European seller, to not deal with the annoying customs taxes for extra EU. If you or someone else know some stores online in Europe, I'll be glad if you share them with me ahahah.

(I only know niggemann but at the moment they have very few products in stock)

Minuskel

Here for the comparison my old board, which I have selled now on Ebay.

@IlFabreis

No, I bought it from Europe. I found it on Etsy.com and it is from Greece. There wasn't any customs taxes. BUT, the board has no tournament size. It has only 4 cm squares. Fits perfect to my chess pieces.

Minuskel...That too is superb looking.Love the wood's grain on that stunning board.....

Sheesh! You folks have great taste.-happy.png

IlFabreis

Ok thank you very much, I'll search on Etsy to see if there are some nice 60mm boards.

@magictwanger

Haha ... :-) ... thanks :-) ... but I have also a chessgame addiction. Without my travellchess games, I have right now three good chess games for the home (Three different sizes). But actually I can only play with one at a time ... oh ... wait ... what about simultaneous chess? Ehm ... I have still enough problems with one game :-).

Every different chesspieces and board gives my another game "feeling" and mood.

One for my car's glove compartment was a must.....The wife takes literally what seems like forever when she shops.....A good pee cup as well...Ya' never know.-happy.png

thats one intimidating horsey......

Ladies and Gentlemen, chess is a tidy, reputable and orderly game. In the light of this fact, it is not tolerable, that ho ... ehm ... Knights look like hippies on a strict divided board with neat squares.

That indicates the doom of civilisation.

I recommend Knights with a trimmed hair, or at least ... when they have long hair ... braides.

Braides with bows look even more appropriate.
