@loubalch, apologies. When I uploaded, it was not rotated like that. Otherwise I would have done so. I hope you have a good chiropractor.
Do you know anything about this knight?
Thanks,
Oliver
If you want, you can rotate the pictures, edit your post uploading the corrected pics.
Very interesting knights, Can't say as I've ever seen anything quite like them. Obviously an older design. Makes me curious to see what the rest of the set looks like. Where did you find the pic?

Hi @loubalch,
I acquired a 3.75" Lardy set and it was missing a knight. The previous owner used the Regency knight as a replacement. I do not have the rest of the set.
I am hoping that someone who has a Regency chess set that has a knight like that might know some history about it.
This sort of stuff fascinates me!
I updated the photos with the correct orientation. Thanks for the feedback and calling that out.
Thanks!
Oliver

Just a friendly suggestion to enhance your posts.
My guess would be early 20th century. It is a rather simple carving. As far as I know, these Regency sets were produced in large numbers in France, England and Germany in the late 19th century well into the 20th century. In quality they are not comparable, however, to earlier 19th century Régence pieces.
Here is an extract from a German chess catalogue by K.P.Uhlig dating to ca. 1913.
However, I remember the first time I saw such a set (in Hungary; I was very excited about what I thought is a pretty rare item.
Hi Everyone,
I recently acquired a Lardy with the 3.75" king. Unfortunately, one of the knights was missing and the previous owner used a Regency knight in its place.
The knight is elegant and beautiful. It stands 2.75" and is carved from wood. I am trying to date it and find out who and where it was manufactured. Attached are photos.
Does anyone have a knight that resembles this? Thank you in advance!
Oliver
