WOW!! Gorgeous Set! The Knights are unbelievaable!!

FrankHelwig

I just ordered mine... :)

TundraMike

Now why does everyone else have such a hard time getting their knights to look superb as Carl has in his sets?  Did you guys order the antique stain or plain?

orderd in the antique finish, looks fanatstic from Carl's pics

UpcountryRain

Absolutely beautiful! Now how do I place my order (and everything else that follows) without my wife knowing? :(

TundraMike

CountryRain, just make sure she isn't home when it arrives. I have an office and when I die they are all going to say OMG look at all those chess sets & books , then they wil have something to talk about.  Surprised

Plain.

TundraMike

That's what I like the best plain, I will put my own "patina" on the pieces!!

we also are delighted to have taken delivery of our 1871 chessmen, the knight more in line eith the ivory jaques pattern? you can see in the images below the differnces in the 1849 knight ( left) and the 1871

hope you like this set too and thank all so much for your very kind feedback

What's the height on the 1871 set?

These knights from Amristrar all have the Amristrar look to my eye, very well carved but as much like a signature of the makers as any makers stamp.

I ordered some carved knights heads fron Amristrar a couple of years ago they look very similar to the point of substitution into any one of these modern sets.

When I can find my camera I will post a pic of one of these and an actual boxwood Jaques ebonised knight (First 500 first year production) You will see the difference.
