Hi folks!

Would you please say something about this book? I would like to study it. I am a 1300 rated player more o less

I don't have it, but the reviews of that book are good.

I do have Pandolfini's Endgame Course .  He's a great writer & teacher, far above the typical chess author. What stinks is the quality of printing of Fireside Chess. The diagrams are fuzzy. It's a little hard to see the black pieces on dark squares. Furthermore the book has dozens of errors : there is a list on-line.  I like his Endgame Course , but I'm reluctant to purchase another Fireside book.

It passeth all understanding why such a fine writer would choose such a terrible printer/publisher. Perhaps electronic editions will come out and be better quality.

Good easy read. Six annotated games. I don’t remember seeing any lengthy variations (almost nothing beyond maybe 4 or 5 moves, but it has been a while since I read it). Decent book. Don’t expect any miracles.

Thank you!

I looked at the book using Amazon's "Look Inside" feature on the book's web page.  It looks like an instructive book, appropriate for beginner-novice players, as are many of Pandolfini's books.  It is worth purchasing if you can get it very cheaply, say for less than $10USD.

Lots of very instructive chess books recommended here, including several by Bruce Pandolfini...
