Is this one from your collection?
Yes, from my collection.
Travel set “Whittington”, purchased in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in a small restaurant (they also sell some other things). Similar to the one depicted in Holgar’s book, fig. 289.

Ups, the board had the wrong orientation!
Holgar, what do you think about this set?I I did find a similar one in your book.
This is an extremely attractive set!!! Wow!!!
(Should you ever consider parting with it, think about me !)

If I decide to reduce my collection I will let you know. It is well possible that I will do this once, as I am not able to display my collection (space, cats).

I will most likely downsize as well, even though I am currently waiting for two more display cases. But I decided to focus more on quality, which makes me reduce quantity. But I would consider your set "quality" anytime, so as I said, if you are ever looking for a new home for your set...it would be cherished!
OMG! Post #19......That set!....That board!
Get's my collecting juices flowing again, even though I firmly thought I was through.
Gonna' have to lie down until the urge goes away.
@brasileirorosim, interesting set, in particular the pierced crowns of the kings and queens. Looks somehow in between this type of Selenus set and a Delhi set.
Wow! That set blows my mind. Look at the detail; the rooks are magnificent… the whole set is breathtaking. Great thread! 👍
Thanks, @Powderdigit and @magictwanger!
@magictwanger, sounds like a critical condition. Stay safe!
The set is featured in my book, Fig. 10 in the chapter on Selenus sets.
And the board is one of the finest I have. It is the same board that is shown on the cover of my book (with a different set, though).
It is certainly a very beautiful board!
I purchased a table with outstanding inlaid. I should bring it to a specialist to for restoration.
For checkers or Capablanca chess.
I have several Regence, which were very common in Switzerland. This one I found in 2015. Is one of my best.

Is this one from your collection? It is beautiful! Usually I don’t buy sets which are so damaged, but for the price (7 Swiss francs) it was certainly okay. I am sure I have similar sets in my collection, and perhaps I can use this one for replacement, if the pattern matches (which is very unlikely). By the way, some years ago I didn’t purchase a damaged set, but after half an hour I decided to get it, as the knights were beautiful, actually the best carved knights that I ever saw. The set was already gone - it was sold to a Swiss collector, the same one I met before to sell a book and a board! He was of course happy about the set I didn’t purchase 😩. Perhaps he is around and can post a picture of this knight!
