Thanks for the feedback!!
MCH - the board has 58mm squares. About 2.25 inches in the old money. It seems to be the optimum size' as it works well for a number of sets I have with different King heights. This King is 9cm.
Current rotation…
That's beautiful...and nice job catching the light for the photo.
Kinda changes my mind about Lardys - always thought they were nice but these photos make them look special.

I bought a stone board at the Mercado in San Antonio 22 years ago. The pieces were awful and have long since disappeared, so I just use a cheap plastic Staunton set now. This is my “study” board, along with my study partner Momo.

…and naturally the morning after I posted the above, I woke up to find my board on the floor in two pieces.
It’s unclear if Momo was involved, there are several suspects. None of them are talking.

I've never been a fan of the googly-eyed knights, but these have grown on me. BTW, I love the Chernev book.

Funny story, sort of… I decided to sell this table … it’s one I refurbished and I thought I’d return some funds to the hobby account as I’ve purchased a few pieces lately … anyway, my wife didn’t really want it sold (Strangely! I thought she be happy to off load it….). Anyway, It was sold, and then we received a message that the buyer and his wife disagreed on the need ( I can imagine the argument!) - and alas, the sale fell through. It was not meant to be - I was relieved to keep it …and my wife was happy too.
So now… it ain’t for sale and I’ve matched it with Lardy pieces and everyone’s happy. It’s my daily set for a while.
@Powderdigit
That looks like a beautiful Lardy Set. Is it? I have always wondered why modern reproductions seem off as compared to historic Lardy Chess Sets.
