Square-off Chess Set

I would like to know who owns a Square-off chess set and for how long? Is it durable?

I don't have nobody with who to play with at home OTB, so Squareoff  looks like a good option.

I have had mine for a year no issues. Buy one you will like it

My has worked well. The app is still being developed, but I've been very satisfied.

Thank you. I'm worrying that will stop working. Is scary to pay so much money for just one year of guarantee. Something that I think I will not like are the pieces. One thing is to be small and another one are to be ugly. Looks like the pieces that they had in the beginning where very nice, but now are not the same pieces.

Journey2ChessMastery

These are the only pieces available for the set. They look like very chip pieces.

mine came with the zagreeb pieces I would have preferred the ones that then came on the smaller version but these have grown on me. They should offer some different stills and sell them as replacement pieces.

You That's a very good idea that they should do and you got very nice set as well.

a square off board is not unreasonably priced every laptop computer I have bought my son in college an now dental school has boken. everything wears out the laptop were all over $1000 he is on his fourth and if my squareoff breaks I will gladly get a new one. when we take our son and his girlfriend out to eat it's $150 to  $200 the amount of enjoyment has already returned more than I paid for mine

I already bought mine, we will see what happens. Thank you all for replying.

I recently approach the squareoff team and gave them suggestions, about pieces that I really like and own my self from a website that  I believe is the best: chessbazaar.com

They have very affordable luxury chess pieces.

This ones are 4.4" King high, but in this case they should be a mini version of 2.6'' King and 0.6 base. I contacted the company that makes them to see how much it would be, but I know that it would be more affordable if would be offer by squareoff itself.

I have had mine for over a year now and have played over 700 games, according to their count. I have not had any issues with the board at all. I have had several games drop but that was an internet problem and not a problem with the board itself.

Sharing my experience,

I was recently gifted the Grand Kingdom version.  The board powered on but it made a loud grinding noise and would not stay connected to Bluetooth.   In addition the checker board did not detect any input.

Initially I contacted the manufacturer for help but realized that I did not have any of the warranty documents that would be required to repair or replace of  the game for free.

After some research, I decided to try an repair the game myself.  I removed the 14 screws on the underside of the board.  Then turned the board right side up and carefully lifted the cover off tilting it troword the power button.  On the inside there is a white plastic fitting covering the electrical wire connected to the magnet.  It appeared that the plastic fitting became dislodged from the slot of the magnet housing.

As a result, the extra length and flexibility provided to the wire caused the wire to snag on the magnet assembly.  This prevented the system/program from preforming a pre cycle operation causing the loud grinding noise.

I glued the white plastic fitting inside the slot of the magnetic housing and straight out the wire.  Prior to reassembling the chess board I test its functionality and it worked as it should.

I hope this helps someone.

Good job! Thank you! I might need to know it one day.

I bought mine on father's day and thanks God is working fine. Seems like people who have bought the board through Amazon have had the same issues than you. I'm trying to handle it very carefully, because I'm enjoying it so far.

Hi Dennis and thanks for your response. I emailed SQO support and hope to hear from them soon. The thing is the software works great on my Grand Kindom board. It do an update yesterday. And now all of a sudden it won't allow me to watch the streaming games happen live on my board. It says not supported. But I can play against it fine. It plays on my cell fine the streaming games do but I want to watch my pieces move on the board. Is this a software issue as well?

Dennis_Petersen

I don't use mine for the purpose of watching streaming game let us all know though what support has to say

Journey2ChessMastery

I don't use it for those porpoises either. I also have so much trouble with the pieces falling. I'm making my own pieces trying to fix that issue.
