I just got the square off pro and it worked ok for a week but would disconnect from the internet about 1/4 of the time. Now it will not connect at all for online games. Really frustrating.

Maybe poppy3 you need to update the app that you use? If it worked well for a week maybe the app was updated in that period of time.

The battery indicator in the app that constantly reports a full charge for the board is a known bug since release. Hope this helps.

YIKES!! Seems they have many fixes that should be coming out in the near future. Let's hope they follow up on them. We should keep this thread going for all owners of the SOP and report when a bug got fixed.

Thanks Ekrabin. I did reinstall the app but still does not work. I can’t play online at all now. I think I will return it. Even for the few days it worked I did not think the online experience was done very well. It was difficult finding opponents. and there are very limited parameters available for online play. Too bad I can’t recommend this for anyone thinking about purchasing.

What is strange is that there are people who posted in this thread the great experience they are having with the same product you are having trouble with. I remember back in the early computer days such matters would be described as being caused by corrupted computer files lol.

The board is still working perfectly. Great product.
The only suggestion I would make is for the app to display what is wrong when there is an error on the board instead of just beeping.

Certainly but I am destined to live in the 10 minute purgatory forever. It always pulls me back.
Hey guys, is there anyone owning both the Square off pro & DGT Pegasus and already has a feel of both? I need an honest opinion, which one is better of the two?

This board isn’t that complicated to operate. It either works or it doesn’t I guess. It disconnects every time I try to play any game online. I reinstalled the app, made sure the board was fully charged , checked my internet connection and prayed to the chess gods but to no avail. I am glad others are having a better experience. As I said, when it was working I found it hard to get a game and I think the parameters are too limiting for online games. So to be honest, while I wish it would have worked, I would not replace with another one for those reasons anyway. Thanks.

There's an easy way to check if the board has it's own wifi chip by checking your router to see if the board's MAC address is part of the wireless connection list. I'll check that out and post back. Wouldn't hurt either to send a question to support.

Was that confirmed by a Square Off rep? I've got 41 games on mine so far with only a single charge and it's still going. But I'm thinking now I should probably go ahead and charge it to keep the battery from getting too far depleted.

I ordered from the website on Dec 8 and had the status change to "Shipped" on the 16th on the website. On the 17th I emailed hello@squareoffnow.com to ask if I could get a tracking number. They just replied saying that my SquareOff Pro is in customs (I live in Canada) and as soon as it clears I should get a tracking number via email. They also said I should get the board by month's end. Seems reasonable. Hopefully I don't get nailed too badly with import fees.
