starting out: the sicilian
i think it's more efficient to analyze your games and learn from your mistakes rather than learning openings. most people don't open an opening book till they reach like 2000 (chesscom)
Thanks for the recommendation, sharing your experience is appreciated. However, the Sicilian itself may be challenging at your level: sharp positions require good tactical awareness. Besides, the Dragon has a known "problem": the "Yugoslav attack" (White's main plan) is very dangerous, and requires precise defensive play. But if you're enjoying Emms' "Starting out: the Sicilian", absolutely continue; just prioritize tactics training, understanding why (not just what) moves are played, and playing many games to test what you learned. And having fun ! ![]()
