It was probably a Kasparov endorsed product.
Magnus Carlsen's first product mentioned in his Wikipedia page was the Play Magnus app in 2013.

I’ll try looking into Kasparov. I didn’t see that exact part on Wikipedia. But in my looking around thats what I usually end up finding. Which might even be part of my confusion (like say I mentioned having what i thought was a sponsored E chess board, and they said it was probably that and I took their word for it or something along those lines) thanks for your input I’ll see if I can find it.
Maybe one of these Saitek Kasparov models?

Yea I was actually looking through some models after the other suggestion, and found those saitek models. Interestingly that eBay ad at the top right of your link for a “magnetic bishop magnet sensor replacement “or something , not only does that little bit I can see look similar so does that bishop. And mine totally operated on magnetic sensors as opposed to the like peg and hole style boards (those could be magnetic too I just meant mine was flat on the actual board part)
I’m actually not sure I just knew the pieces were magnetic looked like the pieces in that image and that’s what that eBay link said. I really struggled to use it at that age so I don’t 100% remember how it knew where the pieces were but I’m pretty sure it was with buttons on the bottom now that I’m thinking about it and picturing it in my head. So the magnets probably were for holding them in place on the plastic board. If I had to guess you had to know chess notation and then do the input s and then manually move for white and black with its responding in notation as well. Which is why I couldn’t use it because I did know how that worked at 11 or 12 or that rough age.
I believe the OP's set may have had magnets on the bottom of the pieces to hold them in place. Not as sensors for piece identification.

Yea I agree like I said my set I’m pretty sure had buttons for each pieces and I think some what to do notation or it’s own code for input if notation into it. And thats why I couldn’t really use it. I hadn’t really given any thought to what the magnets were for until I saw that image that I believe is at least very close to my set.
Something like this, right?
Similar but two main differences is there were no LEDs(or w.e those little lights would be at that timeframes not sure if LEDs were popular then) on the notation. And the format of the none board area with the Buttons wasn’t on the side like that it was I believe if you were sitting where white goes the buttons were below that. I’m just noticing that those white pieces look pretty metallic in color and my were like an Obnoxious plastic white.
Instead of wasting other people's time on GUESSING your model, why don't you have a look at this exhaustive list and find out yourself?

I mean I have looked previously like my post said. And have been looking at people suggestions. I don’t see how I’m wasting anyones time. No one’s is under any pressure to answer the post. And out of the gate people were helpful in leading my in a closer direction. And helping pieces stuff Together thereby making my searching more affective which was the point of the post in general so I really don’t understand what you’re upset about?
Hello everyone I have a very strange question from my past I’m trying to answer. When I was a kid in the late 90’s early 00’s and I got an electric chess board I believe for Christmas because my dad and uncle had been separately teaching me chess for a year or two. (Around 9 or 10 probably when I started) they got me that to practice because I never had anyone to play with but I honestly hated it and it never got much use(it was very complicated) now to the actually question. I’ve spent most of my adult life thinking that board was sponsored by Magnus Carlson like had his name on it an everything. But I’ve tried looking for it and could never find one exactly like it online. But now that I know a bit more about magnus I’m realizing me and him are basically the same age so I’m not sure its practical that he was sponsoring an electric chess board when I was like 11 or so. So more or less I’m wondering if Magnus Carlsen sponsored an electric chessboard from that timeframe that anybody is familiar with, and if not if they could think of another famous chess player maybe popular in that era that did sponsor an electric chessboard.(maybe I just got confused through the veil of time.) Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated,it’s not so much that I’m looking to buy another one as it is that I’m just trying to solve a mystery from my past. Thank you very much everyone!
