Just wow

Many thanks, Mick. I can't enjoy them when they sit in boxes, and I can only play with one at a time. Plus, it's fun to share.

Hi Shelby!

That gorgeous Windsor is part of the American collection, which I posted earlier.

Hi Chuck!

That must have taken some time to acquire/collect.

They all look polished, dusted and clean. Awesome 🙆 work!

Do u leave the Wood Pieces out for display or keep them in a box.

Awesome collection!

Thanks, Lauralye! These sets all were in boxes, but now they're out on display. I have an air purifier running that really cuts down dust. I'll have to periodically dust the pieces, I'm sure. The set I've owned the longest is the plastic Cavalier, which I got around 1960 or 1970. I've been collecting maybe the past ten years.

Yes, ZM, we play in this room, on a chess table from House of Staunton situated between the two sets of display shelves. There's also a bar and two fridges stocked with German, Polish, Czech, and British beer, and a good sized HDTV on the wall.

Here of some shots of the table relative to the shelves. The set displayed on the table is Official Staunton's new Leuchars set, which I recently reviewed. It's displayed on a 2.25" Jaques reproduction board, as the 2.375" squares of the table were a tad too large for the pieces.

Here's another that shows my vintage Botvinnik-Flohr set on the squares of the table itself.

Wow that room is like a chess museum. Awesome work dude.

Thanks, Ben! That's the idea. I have all these beautiful sets, but I can't play with them all at once, nor can we enjoy them while they hide in boxes. So now when we play with one, we can enjoy them all! Plus it makes it easy to share them with others like you who appreciate and enjoy them.

Your 1851 and 1870 sets are stars of the collection. Saturday night, we're playing with your new Leuchars set. I still have to display your Fischer/Spassky set, but it's on the menu.

You're always welcome when you venture to this side of the pond.

Thanks for posting those Chuck. I keep buying chess sets off ebay and I was beginning to think I have too many.

Now I realise I don't have nearly enough.
