The Improving Annotator.

I have it. I've read it. Having read his publically available articles, I found nothing that was new to me or really changed the way I looked at chess.
It's an OK book. Not great, not horrible. If you're a Dan fan, having it in your library won't hurt.

hmm...so I take that as a 50/50 then. (c8

All of Dan Heisman's books seem to be good, but you certainly don't need them all. I recently perused "The Improving Annnotator" in a bookshop and - as Kingpatzer said - there was nothing really new in it when compared to his other books (I have "The Improving Chess Thinker" and "A Guide To Chess Improvement - Best of Novice Nook").

So alot of the stuff from The Improving Annotator are in the Novice Nook ?
That isn't quite what I wanted to say. I remember that there wasn't very much stuff in the book anyway. There were annotated example games. I concede I only perused it for a couple of minutes, but I'd say the only really new thing I saw was some good and methodical advice about how to go about annotating your own games. This was laid out in the introduction on ten pages or so at the most. It just wasn't enough for me to buy the book.

This book written by Dan Heisman. Has anyone got this book. Is it any good ?
There are two ways to look at this book:
1) As a nice little annotated collection of Heisman's game and career. If you look at it that way, it is an okay book.
2) As a book to help one learn how to get better at annotating one's own games. If you look at this way it is a HORRIBLE book! I purchased it because I was under the impression it would give guidance on how to get better an analysing and annotating my own games. Under those circumstances the book was a COLOSSAL waste of money!
And i LIKE Dan Heisman but this book is NOT worth the money.
