Yeah, not sure about this one. The carving seems off, the lathe mark on the top of the queen is something I've never seen on Lardy. I almost want to say it's a Spanish repro of a Lardy. Or another Jura maker? That doesn't make it a less desirable set necessarily, just unusual. What's the king size?
The Lardy of All Lardys

Thanks beach and broom - your observations make me think this set is consigned back to the Lardy’esque bucket. I think this may be further confirmed by the photos below which show the wood difference between this and the Dogface (which came in a box with a faded Made in France stamp on the base). I still love these and am happy to return to my original thinking ….and the mystery of their manufacture remains. Thanks again for raising the questions. And apologies to all for temporarily hijacking the thread! Learning, still learning …
and the dog face
Hi @broomstuck - I don’t want to hijack this this thread so I might try and find my original post and link it. In short - no box, no provenance … and thus I’ve never been sure - (so for a time called it ‘maybe Lardy 😊) but then after posting numerous photos - people seemed to think so.
Here’s a few more photos but I’ll try and find my original post from circa June 2022, when I picked it up with an old board too. (Not the board pictured below.) I can take some more pictures over the next few days but from memory the white pieces have interesting grain/markings.
