I now carry that HoS folding 1.75" board with the above Rochester Chess Center set, as well as a HoS Marshall Series Analysis set and 1.875" vinyl board, a DGT 960 portable clock.  Here are the two sets one on each board:

Hmm, this kind of looks a nice Bug House setup.

Here is the HoS Marshall Analysis set on the folding board:

Here is the 3.25" set on the vinyl board:

And here's the whole set up with the bag I carry it all in:

Love that line-up, Eyechess.  The leatherette board is beautiful for the Starbuck's stop, but the cloth folding board is really attractive for those pieces, if you have a booth size table top.  Thanks for the pictures Smile

Thanks, Impractical.  Actually the folding board is great for that Starbuck's stop if you plan on using those little, square tables.  If you are sitting at a counter, like at Barnes & Noble, then the little Leather set is great.

What?  Starbuck's let you in with a chess set?  Surprised

Beautiful set up UpCountry!

What was the next move of the white side? Perhaps a4 or h4 ?

Good move, inform! Soltis just gave you an ! as he did Flohr: 32 a4!

(And thanks. The red and black on the red board is different. I like it.)

That Russian set really is nice, Upcountry!  Those broad bases and red colors are eye-catching. Smile

The board is also highly interesting. I have begun to favor chess boards with understated contrast.  Sharply contrasting squares with strong colors do not offset the pieces so well.

Thanks, Impractical. I just got the red board with another Soviet set produced in 1940. The set, however, is waiting on the side as two replacement pawns are being made.

I agree about the contrasting colors. The red and black sets, like this Latvian, sit very well on the red board. I took the pic because as I was reviewing the game, I was surprised by how easy it was on my eyes.

Maybe it's just because I like my Soviet sets, but maybe not. I have another sheesham and ebony set that sits on a dark board and I like that one too.

Was very lucky finding this book , this weekend during vacation. Sorry about the tacky bedspread backdrop, that is one of my smaller sets next to the book

Side Note to the book " Karpov's Collected Games"

A blooper, usually if the diagram does not agree with my analysis board, the mistake is mine. in this diagram notice both white Bishops are on black squares!

Probably not a case of Pawn promotion to Bishop either.
