Trying to set up DGT 2010

I'm trying to set up the clock so it starts with 5 minutes, and every move, 3 seconds is added.
I tried using option 18, and set the time to 5, but all that does is make the time go down very slowly, I dont know why.
How would I go about doing this?
Yes, I have the manual already, I just don't know what option is what, or how to actually set it up, because what you posted, or the manual itself, just explains the mode, without how to set it up properly. Every time I try, it doesn't work properly.

At one time I owned this clock.
You can go into the manual setting mode. There you can set up the exact timing you desire.

It is setting 18. You set both sides of the clock. Push the plus minus buttons to five minutes plus increment. Push the checkmark button to enter times. You might not be pushing the start button to start your game. You might have accidently set the clock to five hours. You have to turn the clock on and off to play again. I can go get the clock if you need more help.
