I have to agree with RussBell. I bought a metal set when in Florence, Italy back in 2005.
Actually, I bought 2 metal sets. None of those metal pieces has a shiny or glossy finish at all.
As I said earlier, I will not be buying this set in either color Shelby says they will be in.
As you all know, I use all my sets to play Chess. I do not like the glossy or shiny finishes at all, especially for play.
I also do not want my Chess set to weigh 7 lbs, let alone 9 lbs or more.
Plus, my wife realized how many sets I do own during this quarantine time. Yes, she is shaking her head at how many I own.
And I would always show her my new sets on boards when I got them. She liked the vast majority of them as well. I guess she just didn’t keep track of how many I got over the years 😎
Shiney/glossy - ugh! Flat or Matte finish is preferable.
Gold?? Isn't that a variant of .......YELLOW? Please, not again!!
RussBell,
These are metal sets, they all have a shine to them.
The cool thing is that if you don't like them...it is easy...don't buy them. Exactly what color would you expect metal sets? Appliance white?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure that metal pieces can be finished in many different ways besides shiney or glossy, including matte and flat. And no, I am not a fan of Appliance white, but that is not the only color choice that is not gold or some other variant of yellow. For example...

Here are a few other possibilities.....for instance the bottom row...i.e., Almond or Euro White...the point being, it appears to be possible to have a variety of color choices for the metal finish...and it doesn't have to be shiney!
Nevertheless, it does appear that I will not be purchasing this set. Nor will I bother you with any more criticism over it. Good luck!
