I have the triple weight ultimate chess set in plastic. Does anyone know where I can get it in wood?

I would also like to find the wood equivalent of this set:

Chessset.com has the wood Ultimate pieces.

Close in terms of weight, but the set you indicated has a much smaller king and the pieces, especially bishops rooks and pawns, are quite different in style.

I was replying to the OP about the Ultimate set.  Chessset.com offers these in sheesham and rosewood.  Here is a link to the sheesham set:

The knight looks different than the plastic Ultimate, but the rest of the pieces are similar.

Referring back to what I asked, are there any collectors who could suggest a wooden set that closely matches the Premier plastic pieces in size and weight?  I like the tactile feel of the plastic version and would like to find a wooden weighted close equivalent.

It looks like a Staunton design. Are there any suggestions?

I'm a little late to the party on this one - but just noticed that chesshouse has the ultimate set in a few different kinds of wood. Not sure if this is a new addition or not - it's a pretty close match but the king is only 3 9/16" tall. Tempting...

That ultimate set looks good in wood actually, and just noticed that Chess House is not carrying the plastic pieces no more ?

Ya, I was reading in another thread that they stopped carrying the plastic pieces... sounded like a new run was coming (without the butter yellow color) bit nothing concrete.

really digging the wood version but wondering why they’re not 3.75 inch kings... can’t have it all I guess!

Raphael from chesshouse.com did a live Q&A today and addressed why the plastic ultimate set is no longer being sold on his site. Apparently they were seeing a 1 in 5 failure rate for rattling weights (especially the queens) so decided it wasn't a product they wanted to sell any longer.

He did, however, say that the pieces are being remade to correct both the loose weight problem and the butter yellow color (which I kind of liked tbh.) Either way, it sounds like a temporary situation and with a bit of luck the ultimate plastic set will be back and better than ever.

I asked him if the wooden ultimate set was ever going to be available with a 3.75" king and he said that the current 3 5/8" version was likely going to be the only one they have available in wood. Oh well!
