We use these outdoors frequently. Seems our family camp is divided. The younger members like them the most. The older members prefer the traditionally colored look, of wood of course. These pieces are clubies and are pictured here on a big square 23 inch board.

I love red pieces, especially on a black and maple board. I really love that red Romanian/Hungarian set I got from you, Mike, and of which you've shown many pictures above. I have also have a red and ivory Windsor set, a crimson CB Dubrovnik, a red NOJ Dubrovnik, and a red NOJ BCE S1E. I'll post pictures later when I have access to them. Great topic.

My Romanian/Hungarian set on my HOS maple and ebony board. I like its red border because it picks up the red in the pieces.
don't like it
Burgundy is passable; red is just distracting.

I love burgundy, the shade where most red sandalwood and padauk sets with eventually end up. As far as red goes, it all depends on the shade of red. Like burgundy, I prefer the darker hued reds. I agree that sparkling, bright reds can be very distracting.

The Romanian set looks fantastic on your black and maple board. What's the scoop on your beautiful bpard? So I assume with all your RED sets, you would have no problem using them in a tournament game?

Probably not Mike, to big and kinda distracting. One things for sure I know, the old man hates them (and plastic) lol, but he'd change his tune quick if it was that Red Ivory Jaques pictured around we see now and then !

I noticed lately that players are using RED pieces more and more in tournaments outside the US. What's your opinion? Please post some pictures of your RED piece sets.
