Beautiful set. I concur with everyone else - A++, 10+ and then some.
Vintage Seventies Soviet Grandmaster Set
Beautiful set. I concur with everyone else - A++, 10+ and then some.
Many thanks, Remi.
Rooks looks like from other set. All pieces have same base except rooks.
Otherwise a nice set. Though I prefer clock more :)
Pretty sure the rooks are original to this set. The bases are not materially different. The stain is the same. The wear is the same. They are weighted similarly. They all have the same blue cloth bottoms. And they are proporportionate to the other pieces. I just had the two clocks cleaned. It runs very well.
Can you compare your real rook base with one in photo by UpcountryRain
To me they have different proportions.
Z--here is former women's World Champion Ludmilla Rudenko playing on this set. The rook appears to be the same design as in my set.

Rudenko later with a different, but similar set...
Where did these pictures come from? Looks the same game.

They came from Google searches. I don't recall the sources. It certainly appears to be the same game.

Of course :)
It gave me this picture.

Not very clear but looks similar to yours too :)

Yes, it does. Thanks!
There are two modern reproductions of my set. One by Chessbazaar, and the other by Kadun. While I hope to compare my set to the others in a separate post, here are a couple of photos for comparison...
The Kadun set looks to be very finely done.

Some shots of my Chess Bazaar set. A great playing set despite the husky lines and supersized knights...

Very sleek lines! Fantastic set, matched with a great board!
Many thanks, QK. The board is homemade.
