I am looking for the VTEK 300 chess clock and it seems like they are out-of-stock everywhere. Is the VTEK 300 no longer being manufactured?

Thanks Shelby. When will the brushed aluminium be available again?

I personally think that the faux burl wood design is awesome

I like the wood design too. But they are more expensive than the black. At $150 for the standard colors and close to $200 for the wood grain colors. It will be a while before I ever own one.

When DGT finally upgrades their clock's plastic case to metal, use mechanical switches instead of plastic rockers and upgrade the software to include basic chess features such as displaying the number of moves, do not be surprised when retailers worldwide have to price them higher than the VTek300.

TundraMike

I hope they can get the price down to about $125 in the near future. I think that would pick up sales tremendously warranting the lower price. maybe a Black Friday sale?

EDIT: You would be surprised to know that retailers do NOT expect high-end chess clocks to fly off their shelves. After a tournament organizer buys the equipment, there is no need for any local player to buy one for use in local tournaments. In a group of friends, only half of the players are required to own a clock.

With reliable, plastic, digital chess clocks made by DGT are available in the market for just $20, I do not expect most chess players in the world to pay more than that considering that chess is supposed to be a low-cost offline hobby or for the occasional family game nights.

The clock that you posted doesn't have so much as a delay and cannot be used in 99% of tournament games. It is a horrible, cheap clock. I personally have a VTEK 300.

It’s a GREAT clock for teaching chess in the classroom or after school program.

I just bought the VTEK 300 (black) from VisualTek today and Chronos GX (1 push button and 1 touch sensor both black for comparison) from HOS the other day. 😊

I am new to chess but want to have the best clocks available (IMHO) today. 😊

I own both models of clocks you have, and I also own more.

In my opinion you have the two best clocks available there.

My newly bought VTEK 300 suddenly doesn’t want to turn on, I already changed the batteries but nothing happened. Anyone encountered this?  Thanks

I am one of the designers of the clock.  I have yet to run across this problem before, but with my experiences with the Chronos and other clocks...maybe I can help.

1)  Check to make sure the batteries were put in the correct way.

2)  Open the battery compartment to see if there is any salting/corrosion there.  If there is you will need to use a baking soda solution or Pepsi or Coke to clean the connectors.

3)  Contact the company the sold you the clock and see what their return policy is.

4)  Register the clock on the VTEK website and email them a RMA request to get the clock fixed.

Thanks

Hi Shelby,

Thanks for the reply.

I checked the battery compartment and there was no salting or corrosion.

The new batteries I put were in their right position/order.  I got the clock last Jan 31 2022 directly from Visualtek.

I will do the my unit’s registration later in the morning (It’s early in the morning here in Singapore). Where can I see the product serial number?

Thanks.

You should be able to look at your receipt from VisualTek and send them that info to get this fixed for you.  You can see the serial number when the clock is on...but your clock does not go on...slight problem.  I am sure that will not be a problem.

thanks

Shelby

Still no email response from VTEK support 😔

This is frustrating 😔

Let me give him a call and see what is going on.

Are these clocks still being manufactured, or are that off the market now?
Schachmonkey
Shelby was trying to buy vtek last I read.

That clearly aren't big on communication, if they are still in business at all. ZMart clocks look good - it might be worth having a look at those.

jjupiter6

Sorry, I meant ZMF.

Thanks, I’ll try to figure out how to contact Shelby directly.
