@nojchess - I have used a few sets of the Chessnut piece sensors/chips. I have them in wooden pieces that I use on my Evo and Air (same size pieces).
Overall, they are good, I have not had an issue with them. Some have reported on Reddit that they have an occasional bad sensor. Chessnut is quick to replace them but the initial contact with them can be a bit slow.
I currently have 4 Chessnut boards and I am quite pleased with them although as mentioned, the customer service communication can be a bit slow. I have had one issue, a cracked pawn on my Chessnut Pro Premium pieces and I got a replacement within 2 weeks.
As for a comparison of Chessnut and DGT, I cannot really help as I only have a DGT Pegasus, so I do not have enough experience to make an honest comparison of the two.
Hope this helps a little.
Warm greetings everyone,
I have a quick question regarding digital chess piece systems. In the past we offered upgrades of our chess pieces using the DGT electronic system. However, since DGT resonators have become unavailable, we’ve been looking for an alternative.
Recently we came across the Chessnut system and just received our first sample set of their resonators (“chips”). At first glance they look well made — the chip has silicone protection around it, which seems more resistant to damage compared to the DGT coils.
However, we don’t yet have real experience with the system overall.
Has anyone here already tried or tested Chessnut products? They offer several different models — boards, chips, software, etc.
Were you satisfied with the products and the service?
How would you compare them with DGT in terms of reputation and reliability?
Thank you in advance for any insights or experiences.
