Yeah, the third one is nice, but I need a board too ... Mine is a glass board with transparant squares for white and a little more opaq squares for black. These 2 are almost the same color and hard to differentiate. The glass doesn' t have numbers and letters and is over a fake wood digged base with a cartoon bottom. I now just removed the glass and flipped the base so the cartoon bottom is the actual board. I drawn squares and numbers on the cartoon and colored 32 squares black with permanent marker ...

Hi everybody!
I am thinking since a while about buying a real tournament chess set. However, I don't need a clock since I cannot play in tournaments because there isn't any close to my location.
I would only use the set for home usage ex: play games against computer, but, on the board, to familiarize myself with playing the real 3D board, not only a virtual image.
I was wondering what chess set would be better between these two.

I hesitate because the first one is cheaper, has a bunch of reviews about it (which are all good) and has a more regular king dimensions (which I would guess it also relates to other pieces dimensions) pieces dimensions than the second. The ratio width/height isn't the same.
The second's set king is larger (as I think would the other pieces be), for the same height and the same board width, so I don't know if it is bad because pieces take too much square space and if it does a difference to the view. I' m also wondering if playing with an irregular set gives you a disadvantage since you don't have the habit to play with a regular set. Moreover, the price of this set is about twice the price of the first one. However, the weight of the king is 35% higher (I would be tempted to think that the weight of other pieces are too) and I often see that a higher weight is better. The total set is 13 more ounces but I don't know if this comes from the mousepad board weight or from the pieces. This one offers better possibilities for pieces color. It also has nicier pieces.
The first one has a vinyl board and the second one a mousepad one, I don' t know which of them is best, and the bags have the same characteristics. Both boards have allside letters and numbers.
With all that said, you can check them up and give me your opinions. I really need help here because I don't know at all what to choose.
Thanks in advance.
