Unique and interesting in my own opinion. "Different" from the norm, in a good way. I say go for it.

Thank you! I think it probably suits more minimalist chess pieces better. I got myself a padauk and bird’s eye maple board instead. But I might just purchase the Tarakashi board another time. I do love the color.
I’m considering getting the Tarakashi board below to display one of my chess sets. However, I have no frame of reference for how chess pieces will actually look on a busy board like this.
Does anyone have a photo of their chess set on a similar board?
