I am too, but I only have 2 boards. Both are borderless. I am not too much into boards so that is why I have not pulled trigger for a 3rd one. One of theses days I just might but I am happy for now. Sets are a different story.

Understood Mike....I currently have 3 nice boards. If I did not display my sets and boards on a coffee table with a glass top,I'd go for a 4th in that of the gorgeous MTM board, shown in the first post......So nice!

Ahh that makes sense now. I take it you don't want to get the MTM board because it doesn't fit in your display case/glass. If so I somewhat have the same dilemma. I do want another board somewhat but not at the expense of getting a bigger glass. For me, I also have a space issue, so larger board means more space is required.

Nope....It's the 15 pound weight.

Ahh ok. That makes sense too. I don't mind the weight. It is the same as my bowling balls.

Hi, I'm looking for a nice board for my daughter and found this old thread when I googled. Very interesting I will check the MTM boards. I was lucky enough to order 2 boards from Andy Summerville (Summerville New England) in 2014 before he went out of business. It's been almost 10 years and both boards are perfect. This picture is a board called Monk, 2.25 sq walnut and maple. The other one is 2.5 walnut and ash I will post a pic later.

Thanks

Wow your board is beautiful! I read good things about Summerville boards. I also always wanted an MTM board. I hope you get one.

Stunning chess boards. Looks almost perfect in construction. What woods are these.

The chessmen set is definitely Padauk and eboony/ ebonised wood. The tiles look like padauk and hornbeam/maple for white.

see for yourself.
