What happened to buff?

Not so long ago, about a decade or so ago, it seems buff fell out of favor for the color of the light squares on tournament style roll up s chess boards. Prior to that buff was a quite common color for light squares in contrast to the green squares. Now days it seems the light squares are white or off white. Buff is a tan type color similar to Khaki or a light brown faded yellow color. Sort of the color of light wood like pine. I still have a vinyl board from ACE and another from the the Chess Store that is green and buff. I also have a leather board from ACE with green squares, the natural color of the leather is sort of a dark buff.
There are a lot more options in portable board material like silicon and thin mouse pad than there was ten years ago. The thin mouse pad boards are great and many are printed with fantastic colors like the ones from ACE and Chess House. However, none of these thin mouse pad pad boards have green and buff squares only white or off white. I also own an Olive Green Flex Pad board from chess house. It would look awesome if the light squares were buff colored.

Chesshouse can custom make a mousepad or vinyl chessboard in whatever color you want as long as you give them the color #  . 

Yes Dennis, the natural is what I’m referring to as buff. It looks much better than the white. However, your website says “coming soon”.

I have a couple of these and they seem like buff off white to me.

They are out there. I just think that they took the word Buff out from the description.
