returning to the topic this position seems to have been set up pretty carefully:
Of course it's easy to see their mistake. The white rook on h2 is on a black sqaure, not a legal position.
Ah I love it when they don't describe the dimensions of the pieces but they trough on the picture a random object and that will sopouse to help to scale the whole set.
Like if that coin in there is going to help me... is that even american money?

Nothing like canned chessmen... every supermarket should sell these 
I wanted to put some bad composite set here but haven't seen any lately.
Then I saw this, not exactly what I'm looking for as the seller is more or less clear that they're obviously selling a composite set... still the spin they put on it is pretty funny.
"This rare, complete, combination 32 piece antique 'Ye Olde English' bone versus 'French Regency' Chess Pieces Set is in a fabulous sought after condition."
I tried to get the e-bay admins to put something in theit general instructions stating that chess sets should always specify the King's height. Many adverts leave you guessing.
We walked through a new home and they just setup furniture etc to give you an idea of space and they had a jacked up chess setup so I moved the pieces for them to correct it........My wife just shook her head and said lets go lol
I've done that upon finding a chess set that's obviously there just for show. If I'm really bored, I play a few moves for both sides until the set looks "used."

Well, the ol' man and family "ARE" chess players and he has these "Dead Mint" HOS Fischer R-II Bones for sale ( for the right price ) should a real chess player and collector ever be interested. You'll never see them listed on Flea Bay though lol.

Displaying the peices as if developed during a game would make them easier to see as well. And make more sense.

Why no? I see higth end chess sets on ebay all the time. Just to mention there is another member of this forum who constantly have this kind of sets on his ebay page, recently a crimson Dubrovnik... even HOS have an ebay page.
