Hi,

I would appreciate a recommenation for a free gui and engine that allows me to play both sides, as the engines analyzes each move and countermove. I have Arena 2 and Rybka 2.2, but it does seem to have this capability. I think Fritz has it, in infinite analysis mode. Thanks for the help.

Shredder Classic 3 has an analysis mode which shows the best move according to its analysis while letting a human or two humans play the opposing sides. You can use the Rybka and Fritz engines (or any other) with the Shredder interface, but it's only free for a 30-day trial :(

Thanks. I will look into it. Do you know if I am I correct that Arena 2 does not have this capability?

No idea. But Rybka 2.2 is the old version, Rybka 3 is out and is much more efficient and effective. It is also, however, not free.

I think there are versions of scid or chessdb that have the ability to use an engine to analyze a game.
