Who was László Orbán?

I just bought a book by this guy which deals with all the 1.e4 2.e5 openings, and unfortunately neglected to browse before I bought it. It is a good-looking paperback reissue; it doesn´t say when it was first printed, but the author would have been 104 this year, and the most recent games discussed date from the 60´s! The book is a German translation from the Hungarian, called "Schach-Eröffnungen" The author has the annoying habit of continually saying on 3rd or 4th moves things like "Sf3 would have been better", without going into detail. Great!

Anyway, my question: who was this guy? There´s absolutely NOTHING about him on the web, nothing in Wiki (there´s a namesake of his who won an Olympic medal in boxing in 1972, but he was 41 years younger). Has anyone ever heard of him as a chess player? I´m curious!

PS the book only cost 10 euros, no serious harm done!

Greetz,

Ben

i find ,in these situations it is easier to just change the date in the book to the one in WIKI. I use a .5 mm permenant marker for this, but get one with ink flow regulation otherwise it might make a mess of things.

Lol ... good idea, I can use it to change the annotations too.

@bronsteinitz - you mean the book or the author?
