i also have had a Chessmate wallet for over 10 years. It is still in great shape and has held up quite well.
Yes, it is expensive compared to other pocket sets, but it will hold up well and maintain its high quality over the years. I was just playing over a game of mine from earlier in the week on it yesterday.

That's alright, but realize that the center will always have the edges of the two box parts separating the two sides of the board with that little "wall".

David Weinstock is the owner of chessmate.com and he makes each and everyone in his work shop right here in the USA and backs each one 100%. It might take a couple weeks to get the set since lead times can be about a week but it will be quality.
Disclosure....I bought my set for full price about 18 months ago, no discount. In fact I have never seen these on sale but maybe some has over the last couple years. He has since come out with other models but I still like the button pieces the best. The button pieces remind me of the "of the old days".

I've had mine for over 10 years with no problems in either the leather or zipper.
Well.......just bit the bullet.......ordered mine approximately :
hours ago. He is working on orders from a week ago, so should be about 2 weeks before inreceived mine I am estimating.

Well, after having been miss sent to NY my chess wallet finally arrived today; it was suppose to have arrived Wednesday. After the tremendous reviews I went ahead and sold some things on eBay and went ahead and purchased the Travel Mate Deluxe.
I received nothing at a discount and the only thing I can say is WOW!!!! These are wonderful sets and the only word I can use is remarkable. Truly they are a delight to play on. I have already played four games on my travel mate deluxe and 2 on my wallet version. Just wonderful.
