here is the images from HOS website.
I have the Marshall & a Collector set from HOS. They are seemless & nicely weighted & also not shiney which is what you want. I would assume the Zurich is just as nice. I have heard complaints about the short Bishop but, thats all. They don't really do pics very well as you noticed.
Thanks for the comments... i don't mind the bishop too much, the mane on the knight looks like it may have spikes. (I guess a little 150 grit sand paper can always fix that). I definitely want the dull finish, not glossy. Natural or Ivory is another thing, difficult to tell which this is... (waiting to hear form HOS on that). I don't like the "natural" pieces that look like they are nicotine stained... I’m guessing these are the ivory pieces just in poor lighting (maybe)... I do like it when the ivory is a little off-white and not so bright that you need sun glasses. (for plastic pieces)
It's funny, HOS has great pics for some of the $8 plastic pieces... but more "pricey" plastic pieces they have horrible pics. I mentioned this to them, hope they fix it. No one likes to guess what they are purchasing. I don’t.
Looks like Ivory color to me unless the lighting was off. My 4" King Collector set has a nice suttle Ivory color that doesn't jump out at you IMO. You can try their online chat but, they don't seem very knowlegeable IMO. Its best to wait until you hear from them. You certainly don't want to pay the money plus shipping & be disappointed with the set.
I think you are on the money 9 that the white pieces of their plastic sets have a nice slightly aged ivory look like yours and my R-II plastic set from HOS...however I have to agree that I don't care for that Bishop in the above Hos pic. Seems to short & tiny for my taste... Could be the pic though...
the bishop reminds me of this set, a set I have... picture is not the best, but not too bad either... I should learn how to take nice pics like ROBB.

Wasn't sure if i would like it at first either... this set has become a favorite...
Different angles do help... it’s amazing how much different a piece can look from different angles.
Robb takes good pics thats for sure. Thats a decent looking wood set you have there. The Bishop is not really bad looking but, should be taller. But then again everyone has certain likes & dislikes in chess equipment. There are lots of wood & plastic sets out there which is a good thing. Its always nice to have a choice. I noticed the HOS Marshall set is sold out again. It must be a hot seller.

Best picture I can find so far, seems like the same image as on the website but higher resolution. definitely looks like spikes on the mane.
Yep.. Looks like spikes but, I am sure they are blunted. HOS would get complaints from everyone who bought the set. The Ivory color looks like my Collector set Ivory color in this pic. I am very surprised that no member here has this set.
Thanks for the pic compliments fellas... Today I'll post a better pic of that plastic chess set I have that I purchased from HOS some time ago. I'm not sure and don't remember if they called it a Spassky Fischer or a R-II when I bought it. Never the less I'll take the pic of them in a straight line to give you a better idea...
Of plastic sets I havent found one I like better than the collector plastic pieces ( 4 inch king ) that HOS offers .

Yes Reb I like it the most also. Everyone has their own prefferences. I can't wait to see Robb's pics.
@Reb - the 4" collector set looks nice, but a little too large for a standard 20" board. I noticed they do have the collector set in 3 3/4 too. There are similar to what HOS calls the "Fischer Series".
@ROBB – Is that pic of the plastic set? That is a nice looking set, wish the plastic peices where a little heavier, 38 oz. set is a little light for me.
Cavalier set (still see them once and a while, usually not in very good shape).
I'm pretty sure you could purchase these up until about a year ago... I think the molds where lost along with the ACE 2100 Ultimate pieces... not positive about the molds being lost, just guessing.
@Crazychessplaya - I was thinking the same thing... but the demand is there for the 2100 Ultimate chessmen and yet no chessmen for over a year. Not to repost the article, but here is a link to another discussion if you have not already seen it. (maybe it’s a management issue?)

Does any own this set form HOS? Do you have pictures of the set, better than what they have on the website? Can you post them here if you do? Thanks!
