My 9-year-old daughter and I have been taking joint chess lessons with Flavia, and she's been wonderful with her. Flavia has a patient approach that makes chess both fun and challenging for my daughter. She knows exactly how to keep my daughter focused and progressing, all while helping us set attainable goals. Her talent for explaining concepts in a clear, approachable way has been great. We couldn’t ask for a better chess coach!

I started playing chess again after a 30+ year break. While I'm playing for fun, I do care about improving my game. I look forward to my time with Flavia, she brings a lot of positive energy and encouragement to our lessons. She is also good at pushing me to do better. She is a patient teacher and a strong coach. I find myself hearing her voice inside my head when I am playing games between lessons, telling me to activate my pieces, be more aggressive or grab the open file. We have been working together for 5 months, in that time I improved my ELO from 880 to 1064. It's amazing to go look at games from when I first started and see how much better I am playing. I cannot recommend her strongly enough.

I love my lessons with Flavia, she is kind and positive and makes learning chess fun. I'm a slow learner but she doesn't berate me and always encourages me to do my best. Thank you Flavia, I'm so glad to have you as my teacher!

Taking lessons with Flavia has greatly improved my overall understanding of chess. She quickly assessed aspects of my playing that needed to be worked on, and we have been systematically exploring aspects of the game that I was previously unaware of. I've since started to recognize concepts and ideas from our lessons while playing my daily chess games, which has helped immensely with regard to formulating a plan instead of blindly playing on instinct. The lessons are also quite fun, and Flavia is great at motivating her students. I'd definitely recommend lessons with her!

My lessons with Flavia have been both really helpful and enjoyable. I remember being blown away by how prepared and organized she was on the first lesson. She had carefully looked at my games and had really accurate understanding of my strengths and weaknesses as an adult improver. She came up with a list of priorities and helped me work on the areas I needed to improve on, and was flexible about shifting lesson content around to help me with issues I was noticing in my games (e.g., strategies and model games against the Queen's Gambit and Pirc )

She is also patient and kind. The lessons are always entertaining and leave me feeling really motivated. Overall I absolutely recommend Flavia as a coach.

My eight years old son started playing chess with coach Flava in JULY. The progress he’s made so far is truly astounding. He has evolved to a thoughtful, emotionally and mentally resilient thinker. Within a short period of time, he’s made top 25 at NATIONALS in December!!!!! As a parent, I can't be more proud of my son! I strongly believe that he owes his success in large part to the wonderful coach Flava!!!

I am not a chess player but wanted my child to improve beyond what the school club could teach. I stumbled upon Flavia in my search for a competent teacher that is good with children. She is very personable in her lessons and can maintain a child's attention by being very engaging. Also, she doesn't waste time on nonsense/small talk but gets right to work. We have seen progress from 0/5 wins in local children's rated tournaments to routinely winning 3/5 games in a few months of working with her. My child looks forward to lessons with her. They not only do the normal lessons but also review any incorrect problems in the homework and review tournament games.

Just because someone is an excellent chess player doesn't mean that they will be a good teacher. Flavia is an excellent player AND a superior teacher that cares about my child's progression. It is a blessing that we found her.

Flavia is an excellent coach! Right from the start, she recognized a few mistakes just by doing a few tactics puzzles. She is not only a great teacher, but also listens to my concerns. I feel like she coaches me in a personal way based on my strengths and weaknesses. In the couple months I’ve been doing lessons, I’ve noticed a difference in my play. Chess has been one of my passions since I was little. Different life circumstances made me separate from the game for too many years and I returned to it later with great enthusiasm. After 2 years of self-training, having a professional coach like Flavia has been a very positive experience, bringing me closer to perspectives of the game that were unfamiliar to me and improving my understanding of it. I like the dynamic rhythm of the classes, the energy that Flavia always transmits and the passion she also have got for this infinite and exciting sport!

Flavia has been an amazing teacher to my daughter. She makes learning chess very fun and comes with alot of energy to keep my young 5 year old daughter engaged. Flavia tailors lessons specifically to my weaknesses, and gives me a structured study plan to follow. She's extremely easy to get on with, and will always find time time to respond to any queries despite her busy schedule. My chess is certainly improving under her guidance!

I started having chess lessons with Flavia in November. I couldnt play really I just knew the moves but nothing else. I wasnt sure if it would work with Flavia being in Spain and me being in London but from the first lesson I was hooked.

I dont know how she did it but now I am winning lots of games and actually feel that I know what Im doing. I do homework each week which she marks and then we go through it until I understand it. Her patience has no end. Sometimes even I am fed up with asking so much but she goes over each topic until I absolutely get it. She is always happy and fun and I absolutely love having my lessons and look forward to them so much. If you are reading this and looking for a chess teacher look no further Flavia is fantastic!
