He was my coach for 1.5 years. During that time we worked on openings, midlegames and endgames. All at a very high level. He is an experienced, supportive and successful coach. He also has a great sense of humour.
I also achieved success when he coached. I beat some FMs and several players over 2000 in long games.
I can confidently recommend him to all chess loving people.

Dear Andras, Thank you so much for your kind words. Beating titled players in over the board games is such a great achievement, I'm very proud of you. That happens when you keep practicing. happy.png

I've learned so much from Gabor over a small period of time.

Because of this, I'm able to do a much better job figuring out positions and analysis than I hadn't before taking lessons with him. Explanations were always crystal clear and he genuinely has a passion for chess.

Just as importantly, he's an awesome guy.

I recommended him to a friend and would recommend him to anyone who needs to improve their chess knowledge.

Dear Sha, Thanks for your kind comment, it was a pleasure working with you, you are a great person and I hope you maintain your chess enthusiasm. happy.png

About a year ago for no particular reason I decided that I wanted to play chess. I started by playing and doing puzzles for fun and eventually after realizing that I wasn't improving much I decided that I wanted to get coach. Gabor was referred to me by a family friend and I have never looked back once. Gabor is a phenomenal coach and I love learning from him. Even though I hardly play chess on my own anymore, with the 2 chess lessons I get from Gabor a week I still feel like I am improving a lot (all though I really should be playing more games on my own). The number one quality I look for in a teacher is the ability to keep their students engaged and Gabor does this easily. He's funny and has always managed to keep me interested in chess.

tl;dr Gabor has taught me a lot about chess and his lessons are something I always look forward to!

Update: I'm 1336 now and rising. We started less than 3 years ago when my rating was around 600. I don't take chess very seriously and I was still able to improve so much almost purely through Gabor's lessons. GOAT'bor is the best.

I have had the pleasure of having 4 sessions with Gábor. This was the first time I worked with a coach and I have to say that my experience was wonderful. I am a casual player with no (immediate) interest in competing but want to get better.

He had prepared certain topics/exercises for each session and was always able to discuss the topics I wanted to ask about or review my games.

The exercises we went through were very instructive and appropriate for my level - far from being easy and yet not that hard that I was unable to understand what was going on.

I look forward to working with him again in the near future - so if you are considering having him as a coach, my recommendation to you is to go for it.

Dear Matias, Yes, I wish you were more hard-working... grin.png It's incredible that even without practicing alone, you keep rising that much. As I see, you are almost 1400 now. You can do it! wink.png

I've been working with Gabor for about a year and a half and have hit 1300/1400 and (briefly) 1500 rapid in that time. On a personal level, Gabor is a really nice guy who its easy to get along with. He's always flexible around when we can fit our lessons in which helps a lot when things come up. Gabor always tailors the material we look at to what i need and its always made me think more than the standard puzzles on chess.com. I feel that my understanding of the game has improved a lot in that time and I'm now thinking about things in games that i never used to. Its also really useful to be able to review games with someone that can point out the deeper positional mistakes I've made and last but not least having a sympathetic ear when im having a bad run of games! If you want to improve at chess and looking for a coach then i think you could do a lot worst than work with Gabor.

Gabor is a fantastic coach who have helped me in every aspect of my game, be it openings, tactics, strategy or endgames. Before I decided to work with Gabor, I had a rating of around 2000 on chess.com, but no matter how much I memorized opening lines or did puzzles I didn't see any noticeable improvement. I was stuck for 3-4 months before deciding to get a coach, and was very lucky to have found Gabor. He is a very friendly and approachable person, and I always look forward to his coaching sessions. It is always exciting to get a tactic or an endgame that we have covered together! Slowly but surely, I have seen incremental improvement to my chess. Now, my blitz rating on chess.com is 2369, and I have beaten several grandmasters and masters in all time controls online. I am very happy with his lessons!

Dear Cheng Hao,

Thank you for your kind words. I'm really satisfied with your rapid improvement, there is a huge potential in you and I'm sure you're going to be a titled player one day! happy.png Keep it going!

JayThe10th

it seems like you do have quite a few students.

IpswichMatt

@Bgabor91 - are you still looking for students?

Yes, I'm still accepting new students.

Cool teacher Gabor! He has helped me grow my chess vision a bit (not much, but ok).

Actually, this forum is for the feedback about my private lessons. happy.png I guess you ment that my free videos helped you (which is great!) but you didn't take private lessons from me. happy.png

SGP_Chess2

While I have not received any private lessons, @Bgabor91’s video analysis has been incredibly useful in showing me my strengths and weaknesses, as well as showing me strategies and opening concepts I had not previously considered. If you’re looking to improve your rating I strongly recommend subscribing to @Bgabor91’s patreon!
