Teaching method

1. Opening : I will be explaining plans and what pieces to trade for better middle game. Few openings I know gets you to end game quickly with better end game winning chances.

2. Middle game: Creating Long term plans / Short term plans / King safety.

3. End game: We will be looking Vancurra defense / Lucena drawing, King+P+R vs K+R end games / 3-files rule in rook + King end game etc. The end games we practice will be based on something you often see in your games. If you consistently end up with 2 rook minority attack end game, then we will be focusing that and not bishop+knight checkmate.

TIMING: 9 AM - 2 PM MOUNTAIN TIME.

My style: mostly positional where I make favorable trades to end up with easily winnable end game, where my king is almost always in a fortress or very safe.

FAQs

1. What's the catch? Why give out free lesson if I don't gain anything?

-> 1. Chess is my hobby not my career. 2. I decide the timing of lesson which is 9 AM - 2 PM Mountain time. 3. Its in a way short break from playing too much blitz.

2. Will Lessons help you improve?

-> Chess is a game where improvement is related to how much effort you put in. If you work hard on end games and openings that we go over, I highly believe it improves your chess quickly. As GM David Howell says "Puzzle rush is for fun not for improvement, doing 100 puzzle rush won't make you a better player, but doing 3 puzzles that are very hard but doable if you persist that takes 10-15 mins will definitely improve your game.

3. Do I teach anyone under 1600?

-> No minimum you have to be Rated 800. Below this rating, just focus on not leaving hanging pieces that's mostly why you are below 800 in the 1st place.

4. How many lessons can you take?

-> As long as you finish 6-10 puzzles I give out at the end before next lesson. Then as many as you want.
