Hi everyone,

I have found myself with a bit of time on my hands recently so I want to spend a bit more time on chess. I am a 2000+ rapid player and 1900+ in bullet and blitz. I am offering advice/help to beginners and intermediates to reach that next step. So please add me on Chess.com saying you want some help with your chess and I will try to add you on discord after.

I don't think people need paid chess coaching for 2 hours a week, just guidance and motivation to follow that advice. I was able to get to 2000 in rapid without any coaching, just by following resources like Chessbrah's building habits online. Obviously coaching does help expedite the process, but it isn't necessary for most of us.

Tips for beginners:

1. Play more to get more familiar with how the pieces move.

2. Learn about the strong squares for pieces in the opening.

This means that some pieces have square they appear on pretty much every time like knight to f3, bishop c4 or b5, castling, knight c3. Develop the pieces to these squares to control the center.

Queen to g4 is never a move I want to make because the queen can get attacked via d6 or d5 by the opponent. This reveals the bishop on c8 which attacks the g4 square. There is an exception where the queen does go there in the Vienna, but strong players understand that the queen should never develop to that square in the opening most of the time. Instead, pick queen d2, e2 or sometimes f3 (usually reserved for knight though).

3. Develop your pieces faster than your opponent.
