HELP!!!...please?
Buddying up is a good idea, especially if you are both motivated to improve. Join a good and active group and play 'vote chess' matches as the collaboration involved is highly valuable. Don't worry about openings or variations. Just memorize the opening principles and stick to them. Sit on your hands before you make a move and check if you are going to blunder or if your opponent is going to mate you or win material. Analyze your games and understand where you went wrong and how you should have prevented something or won something. Tactics are fundamental in chess, and you need to start building a mental collection of many many positions, so get solving puzzles and do it as regularly as you want to improve. It's a bumpy ride so don't be too hard on yourself when you plateau or feel like you're getting worse. Good luck and have fun ![]()
