Hello everyone, I am a student of stephanredko and I want to offer my strongest recommendation for his coaching services.
If you check my account here, you will see that I am not active on this site. I play primarily on another chess site, and my OTB level is fluctuating around 1900 FIDE. However I want to drop in here just to recommend Stephan.
Our training activity includes three components:
1) endgame training - includes brief theoretical discussion but 90% of the time is sparring of positions
2) middlegame training - Stephan selects positions from GM games arising from openings that I play and we spar the positions against one another, review our moves, and then in the end we look at the actual GM game continuation
3) rapid training games at 15+10 - Stephan's style is to repeatedly contest the same opening lines with slight variations until I have demonstrated that I can handle the position confidently and know the middlegame plans. Only then will he start to play different variations/systems
As you can see, the backbone of the training is almost all about playing out positions under game conditions with an opponent who is about 300 points stronger than me. It is rare to find a strong near-FM level player who is willing to play over and over on equal terms with a club player like myself.
Stephan is an incredible coach with a ton of heart and devotion to his students. He is a perfect choice for a long-term coach + training partner.
Hello everyone! I'm looking for crazy students who are passionate to learn chess and training seriously. In order to get a proper foundation we need to be perfect in both theory and practice. We will find out your weaknesses and missing points in end games, middle games, and openings. We will boost calculation power, understand how the process of calculation works, and how simplify, and speed up it. We will pay a lot of attention to the end games, so you will be able to win winning positions and make a draw in the worst positions. We will learn strategy and tactics, you will always know what to do, how to do it, and how don't allow your opponent to do what he wants. The practical aspect is the most important, if you simply watch videos, read books, etc. But you don't play positions, don't analyze them, don't correct your mistakes and misunderstandings... That is like learning to swim without water, or football, boxing, without really doing it...You may grow countless times faster. Make sure you are ready for serious training sessions, one session will be 2 hours, and very intensive. Imagine you come to the gym and ask a trainer to help you. You can do it by yourself, but not so hard. It will be hard, but after a few weeks, you will do it easily. That is the same for chess. The price is 35$ per training session. I need to spend time preparing materials and the training session itself. Those who can't afford it may join the group lessons, it is also powerful, but you will play positions with other students and I can not correct all your mistakes ( but I'll try). The price for group lessons will be just 10$ per lesson (1,5 - 2 hours). And if you can not afford even this I have a free YouTube channel where I post videos almost every day.https://youtube.com/channel/UCTBXVMPe9l7OCAd_408Z84A But I highly recommend you to find a partner to play different positions.
