Is there a way to match coaches with openings?

Essentially as title says.  I am looking into maybe taking some lessons from a coach, but I dont want to change my opening setup much if at all (Reti as white and as black Caro, French and Nimzo).  I was poking around, but cant find a way to find a coach who is familiar with the openings I know (as ~1800 blitz/rapid) to be able to have a bit of additional familiarity with my habits.

Is there a search thing I am missing, or is it just something I need to explore games of potential coaches for?

Hello! @USL_Pony

I personally don't play the openings you mentioned (except sometimes the opposite color of course) in classical games, however, that doesn't mean I don't understand how to play these openings. I have plenty of opening material I can share with you, and have the understanding for the structure/opening ideas to help point you in the correct direction while still giving you deeper theory if that is what you're wanting.

If you are worried about how "close" our blitz ratings are, then I can assure you I can still teach you plenty. I have had students in the past, and current who are even stronger then you, going all the way up to 2100+ rapid rating chess.com.

Hope this answers your question, and if you're interested in my other expertise as a coach, or have any further questions, please send me a message I would love to help!

Good luck in your chess journeys!

Josh

Of course you don't understand how to play those openings. You don't even understand your own openings.

It's one of your recent games against @talcrush. How can somebody who understands chess even a little bit play e6 here?

Well, excuse ME. I bet YOU have never made a mistake in blitz, never made a mouse slip, never tried something different for fun, never mixed up your opening lines in the heat of the moment.

Blitz is close to meaningless on line, and whenever I play blitz I play for fun. Is your way to try and get students belittling any coach you can find? Because that is a good way to get people to dislike you.

Also, if you really cared and looked at my games in the position, I always play mainline. This is a clear blitz mistake. When coaching you don't judge someone off of blitz play...that is ridiculous to say the least. Good Luck finding students, respectfully, please get a life.

@3 I don’t see how playing one opening poorly in one game of thousands gives evidence of having no knowledge in another opening without time pressure ? I wouldn’t judge a coach on their blitz games, or really their games at all. Is it not teaching style and prowess that makes one good at, well, teaching?

I find josh is a good person but honestly would say the same for any other coach.
