[SOLVED] Thanks for the input!

Hello!

If you're interested, please DM me your rate and availability.

I have had Chessbase 16 for a bit, and recently got some add-ons that I am trying to integrate and setup for study, analysis, and practice. I am a technical person, but the usability of Chessbase and Fritz 18 leave something to be desired. I want to accomplish the following:

  1. Setup and use the Openings Encyclopedia for Cb16 and Fritz
  2. Setup and use a number of PowerBooks for opening practice and study. [Edited from PowerBooks]
  3. I want to setup my own opening books both for my own practice to learn/practice lines as well as to create opening books to play against with Fritz.
  4. I want to create my own repertoire and learn how to integrate it within CB and Fritz as well as potentially the associated online tools.
  5. I am looking for advice on how to organize my content and my various workspaces
  6. I'm looking for any other tips, tricks, life hacks, and best-practices to make my time in CB and Fritz about the learning, not about fighting the software.

I am of course willing to pay for someone's time to help with this. I prefer PayPal or Google Pay or Amazon Pay. I speak English, so someone who can speak English for this is required. I already have a chess coach, so I am not looking for a chess coach, just help with the Chessbase tools and software.

If possible, I'd like to connect with someone during 9a-5p EDT(GMT-4:00) today, Sunday October 23, 2022. Otherwise, I need to connect after 6pm EDT during the work week. I'm assuming about a 90-minute working session give or take, or less if you're fast at solving all the problems/showing me the ways. happy.png

If interested, please DM me with your rate, availability, and confidence level on the items I have noted above.

How much money did chessbase cost?
GravyTraining

In the US, with no VAT and current exchange rates, the base package ends up at around $150 for just Chessbase and the 1 year subscription.

Hope it works out for you.

2. Powerbases are just a compilation of high rated games of a particular opening.

That's my bad, I meant PowerBooks. I just can't seem to bring it all together but I'll keep trying until I figure it all out or find someone with experience.

Ian_Rastall

So I have the experience, the time, and the skills to get the ideas across. And that isn't what you want? All right. Good luck.

Apologies, but the only message that I see from you was "Hope it works out for you.". If you've got the skills and experience I'd be happy to talk.

All of it from my experience of Fritz. That is why I never bought Chessbase. Fritz has databases too. Creating databases and making ctg books.  I got all I needed.  But for sure Chessbase has features that Fritz does not have. And vice versa-- For example playing a whole game against Fritz  using  your personalized opening books as engine book. Chessbase cannot do that.

That makes sense, and I do have both programs. What I am really hoping to do is to create opening books to drill against. I want to take, say, the French Defense, and program in all the variations I have had played against me (good and bad) as well as the most common good lines. I want to have Fritz play them against me randomly and I need to practice/drill the lines out to about 20 moves. I am not so much going to learn the openings this way, but I can drill them until they're second-nature. I don't expect to do deep preparations. If I know 10-12 moves of theory for the lines I face and can be better prepared to make good moves to start a middlegame with at least parity, then my work on tactics and positional play can enable me to maybe take me to an endgame I can win. I'm too old to become a master, but I very much enjoy the game and like to practice this way. happy.png

The tools on Listudy.org for openings almost do what I want, but I have to focus on just specific lines. With this I want to drill against my repertoire.

I'm going to DM you to discuss this more if that's ok?

I thought this might happen. Not only did I block and report you but I figured you would try to bully me for money for some imagined services you think you provided. Here's the entire chat record so everyone else can see exactly the "Value" you provided and how much I "took advantage of you".  Providing jibberish and then asking for a $180 chess set when there was not even an agreement in place... you should be ashamed. I've worked with a lot of other players here and never had such issues. I DID pay someone else for help they ACTUALLY provided.

Anyone reading this should be aware of receiving "help" from this person as they will try to scam and bully you.

t happen...

And don't forget the harassing messages I was sent by his alt account which I have also reported and blocked. For the record, none of what he claims he taught me was what I asked for and what I already knew.

Such drama should not be happening here, but alas...

Also, I marked it Solved because I spent 90 minutes on a call with someone else who I PAID who ACTUALLY gave me the information that I needed.

1. German Knight  pieces "House of Staunton Classic II 3.75" pieces is $99 less 10% -- correct $89. 2. GIve screenshots that you contacted and called with another coach. 3. Yes you should have given some payment because you got what you wanted. 4. Chess is a game of skill. You got to pay from people who have those skills to be taught and passed to you.

ThinQ_King

The words-"Thanks for the input" . Basing on the flow of the thread I believe these two Taiwanese. Give screeshots, clearly you love screenshots, as evidence that you had someone else for 90 minutes. And issue will be closed right away.

ThinQ_King
The typing coach asked very cheap payment. That is less 10% halloween sale.

@king_joselito1

I've blurred out the name, but here is the conversation with the person who actually gave me what I was looking for.  I'm in the right here, I have zero to hide.

What I was asking for was exactly what the other coach supplied me. Not some half-assed "go look this basic function up on YouTube" advice that doesn't match my query.

>>>3. Yes you should have given some payment because you got what you wanted. 4. Chess is a game of skill. You got to pay from people who have those skills to be taught and passed to you.

Except I DIDN'T get what I wanted from them and there was no implied or direct terms about what payment would be forthcoming. This is akin to a guy in the city coming up and spraying your windshield and washing it with a dirty rag and demanding payment. Had they asked for $5-10 I would have just done it to be polite as I had been earlier. But not for that craziness and not for that amount. As can be seen, I DID pay someone $30 for coaching on this AND afterwards another user helped me out of the kindness of their heart. I firmly believe in honest dealings, but this person with their 2 accounts is either delusional or expects this kind of pressure and hopes to bully people into giving money for nothing.

This is an open and shut case, and the only reason I am entertaining it is that they tried to slander me here.

Ok fine. But the Taiwanese guy's information seem to be more helpful to me. Cased closed. You accused him as a $180 scam which is not correct.

No, I accused him of claiming that I had done him wrong, and that I had reported him. If Chess.com does nothing, that's just fine by me. I'm only here to clear my name. They have the same info that is here.

I appreciate your playing Judge Judy, however.

ThinQ_King

It clearly showed on your comments and screenshots you said he is a $180 scam. He is not a scam I guess. Basing on your screenshots and comments. Of course he would get angry since he is real and sincere to help you.

ThinQ_King

Anyways not my problem anymore. You take care and happy chess playing Sir.
