Potential Open Files

Hello chess.com members. I'm starting a series of lessons on the forums for all to enjoy. Today I will be discussing the idea of potential open files. I will be using a couple of examples from Kasparov and a less impressive example from one of my own games.

This first example is from Deep Blue vs. Kasparov.

This next example features a mysterious and prophylactc rook move by Kasparov.

This is an example from one of my own daily games. It reminds me of the first example but the file creation is not as obvious.
