I took a look at the first case (8 and 28) and it is especially odd because there is different problem text in each lesson, suggesting Wolff forgot that he had already used the position?

yeah... I think he was just writing the lessons from memory (perhaps even on different days). The genereal ideas within the text are the same, so it shouldn't be that big a deal... I just thought that since they were identical, one should be deleted.
